Violence against woman has been happening around the world for centuries. Research suggest that “1 in 3, or 35% of women worldwide has experienced either physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence or sexual violence by a non-partner (not including sexual harassment) at some point in there lives” ("Facts and figures: Ending violence against women", 2020) .   As a domestic violence victim, myself, I do not find this hard to believe. So many women are scared and even feel like it is their fault and in turn they do nothing about the abuse they suffer.   I suffered with this physical and metal pain for 27 years of my life, before I sought help and divorce. I chose to take the mental health quiz for this blog. I feel like mental health is very important for everyone. When someone suffers from mental health issues it effects their lives every day. I learned a couple of facts that I was not aware of when taking the self -quiz. One thing I was not aware of was the fact that “Half of all mental illness occurs before a person turns 14 years old, and three-quarters of mental illness begin before age 24” ("Mental Health - Home Page - CDC", 2020).   I find this fact interesting because my son was diagnosed with bipolar and anxiety disorder at the age of 18. Being alarmed early when he was younger around the age of 15, I had taken him to the doctor, who at the time informed me that if he was making good grades in school, he was fine.   At the age of 18 when it was clear he was suffering; he could not even take a test in school with out getting worked up and nervous. Menopause, defined as the cessation of the menstrual cycle, and it also marks the end of a woman's reproductive years.  The cessation of menstruation is normally when a woman goes through menopause. As a woman's ovaries will slow the production of hormone's both estrogen and progesterone in the years leading up to menopause. During this process woman may experience a range of symptoms,they may vary from irregular periods to vaginal dryness, mood swings and even insomnia. During my research I was surprised to find that; menopause sign, symptoms and view vary within cultures. In a study in Hong Kong, researchers found that the symptoms most complained about  was joint and muscle problems.   For Blog #1 I have chosen to read the 2019 Status of Women Worldwide power point. This power point contained many interesting facts regarding woman's health and wellness from around the world.  A.   What   facts most were most surprising. I found the power point to very interesting and informative. There are many facts within the power point that I found surprising.  I would have never thought that the language that is spoken the most globally would be "Mandarin Chinese at 12.2%, putting the English language at 4.6%", this was an interesting fact to me. I have always assumed that the English language was the higher percentage of the two. Woman and work, this slide contained information that informative being a woman in the working world today.  "Woman work more hours than men" it seems that woman must work longer and harder to earn the same pay and respect as men.
